The Best Honey in the World Winner
When it comes to honey, Eğriçay is the pride of Turkey. In 2019, they were awarded the prestigious 'World's Best Honey' prize by the International Federation of Beekeepers Association, Apimondia. The Çay family has been beekeeping for generations in the Taurus Mountains of Turkey. In the 1950s, their grandfathers carried the beehives to Eğriçayır Plateau in summer and to Kızkalesi Beach in winter. They brought the honeycomb honey they produced in log hives to the markets, stored in goat skin pouches.
Today, Eğriçay draw from the heritage and knowledge of beekeeping gained over generations, applying a stringent monitoring process to their limited yield, maintaining unparalleled excellence from beekeeping, to hive, to jar.
